The NFL suspended referee Adrian Hill for one game and line judge Jeff Seeman for two games after Week 4 conduct, the first official suspensions in eight years. The NFL Referees Association plans to challenge the severity, arguing the punishments exceed appropriate standards and exceed prior precedent, especially given Seeman’s two-game penalty as the longest for an official since 1988. The league cited unprofessional conduct, including Seeman’s profanity toward Cardinals tight end Trey McBride and Hill’s incident with Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson, as justification. Officials’ groups say confrontations are rising and seek a consistent standard, with planned talks with the NFLPA and officiating department to address disciplinary norms. The outcome could shape how on-field exchanges are adjudicated going forward.
